🔄 How Offset Printing Works

Offset printing is the world’s most widely used commercial printing method. Here’s exactly how it works — step by step.

01

🎨 Artwork Preparation & Pre-Press

Your design file (AI, PDF, or high-res PNG) is received and checked for print-readiness. Our pre-press team verifies color mode (CMYK), resolution (300 DPI minimum), bleed (3mm), and safe zones. Any issues are flagged and corrected before plate-making begins.

02

📍 Plate Making (CTP — Computer to Plate)

The approved artwork is burned onto aluminum printing plates using CTP (Computer to Plate) technology. One plate is made per color — so a 4-color job requires 4 plates (C, M, Y, K). Plates are precise, durable, and capable of printing millions of impressions.

03

🖨️ Ink & Roller Setup

The plates are mounted onto the press cylinders. Ink is loaded into the ink fountains — one per color. The press operator calibrates ink density, water balance, and registration (alignment of each color layer) before the production run begins.

04

📰 Offset Transfer — Plate → Blanket → Paper

The inked plate rolls against a rubber blanket cylinder, which then transfers (offsets) the image onto the paper or board. This indirect transfer is what gives offset printing its name — and its exceptional sharpness and color consistency across thousands of sheets.

05

🔍 Make-Ready & Color Proofing

The first 50–100 sheets are printed as make-ready copies. Our press operator checks color accuracy, registration, ink density, and print quality against the approved proof. Adjustments are made until the output matches perfectly before the full run begins.

06

⚡ Full Production Run

Once approved, the press runs at full speed — printing thousands of sheets per hour with consistent color and quality throughout the entire run. Our presses maintain tight tolerances to ensure the last sheet looks identical to the first.

07

✨ Post-Press Finishing

Printed sheets go through finishing processes: lamination (glossy, matte, soft-touch), spot UV coating, foil stamping, die-cutting, scoring, or folding — all done in-house at NM Packages. This is where your print transforms into a finished product.

08

🔍 Quality Inspection & Dispatch

Every finished batch is inspected for color consistency, registration accuracy, lamination quality, and dimensional accuracy. Approved jobs are packed and dispatched to your location with a tracking number.

❓ Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about our offset printing services.

What file format should I send for printing?

We accept PDF, AI (Adobe Illustrator), CDR (CorelDRAW), and high-resolution PNG files. Files must be in CMYK color mode at 300 DPI minimum with 3mm bleed on all sides. If you’re unsure, send us what you have and our pre-press team will advise.

What is the minimum order quantity for offset printing?

For offset printing, our standard MOQ is 500 pieces due to plate-making setup costs. For digital printing, we can print as few as 50 pieces with no setup cost. Contact us to discuss your specific quantity.

Can I get a printed sample before the full run?

Yes. We provide a digital proof (PDF) for all jobs before production. For offset jobs, we can also produce a physical press proof (make-ready sample) for an additional charge, which is adjusted against your final order.

What is the difference between CMYK and Pantone printing?

CMYK uses four process inks (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, Black) mixed to create all colors. Pantone uses pre-mixed spot inks for exact, consistent color matching — critical for brand logos where color accuracy is non-negotiable. We support both systems.

Do you offer lamination and finishing after printing?

Yes — all finishing is done in-house. We offer glossy lamination, matte lamination, soft-touch lamination, spot UV coating, foil stamping, die-cutting, scoring, and box assembly. Everything under one roof means faster turnaround and lower cost.

How long does offset printing take?

Standard lead time is 7–14 working days from design approval and advance payment. Rush orders are available — contact us on WhatsApp to check current availability for urgent jobs.

Do you deliver across Pakistan?

Yes. We deliver to all major cities including Karachi, La
